New Neighbours? Why You’re Seeing More Foxes in Your Garden Lately
As the evenings draw in, you might notice some new, four-legged neighbours trotting through your garden. Autumn is a season of adventure for young foxes, who are finally heading out into the world to find territories of their own. Join us as we explore the wild side of the season.
DID YOU KNOW that Autumn is a time of adventure for young foxes who begin exploring further from home and some will eventually leave their family territory altogether in search of a patch of their own.
That means you might notice a few more foxes wandering through the garden, disappearing into the woods or trotting along a quiet street as the evenings draw in. Some could simply be youngsters checking out your garden before becoming your unofficial new tenant!
And there are plenty of autumn treats along the way after a barren Summer of bin scraps. Foxes are omnivores and, as well as hunting small mammals and insects, they’ll happily tuck into blackberries, windfall apples and other fruit.
So next time you spot a fox padding through the fallen leaves, spare a thought for them it could be a youngster heading out into the big wide world for the first time.
