As November draws near, red poppies begin to bloom across lapels, symbolising remembrance, gratitude, and unity. Each year, the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal brings communities together to honour those who have served and sacrificed in the Armed Forces. As we approach Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, you will notice familiar and friendly faces standing in shopping centres, train stations, and supermarkets, the dedicated volunteers of the Royal British Legion, proudly collecting for the annual Poppy Appeal.
Their bright red poppies are more than just a symbol; they represent remembrance, respect, and support for those who have served and sacrificed.
The Royal British Legion has been at the heart of community support for over a century. Through funds raised by the Poppy Appeal, the charity provides vital assistance to serving personnel, veterans, and their families, from helping with the cost of living, offering mental health support, to aiding in recovery and employment.
Every coin dropped into a collection tin, every bank card tapped and every poppy pinned to a lapel, contributes directly to improving lives and honouring the courage of those who have defended our freedoms.
