Poppies Needed: Three Displays, One Purpose

Every year, thousands of handmade poppies bring Thundersley Village, Hockley and Hadleigh Memorial to life for Remembrance. Behind each display are countless hours of knitting, crocheting and community spirit. Now, with 68 days to go, the call is out again.
Poppies Needed: Three Displays, One Purpose
Each year I help organise three Remembrance poppy displays: at Thundersley Village, Hockley and Hadleigh Memorial and it’s something I’m incredibly proud to be involved with.

Of course, those thousands of poppies don’t appear by magic. They’ve been lovingly knitted and crocheted by local people over many years, with some contributing a handful and others making hundreds. Every single poppy counts.

So, with 68 days to go, I’m putting out my annual call to arms or perhaps that should be a call to knitting needles and crochet hooks!

If you fancy getting creative over the next few weeks, please make a few poppies to add to the nets. Whether they eventually appear in Thundersley, Hockley or at Hadleigh Memorial, they’ll become part of something very special.

Three displays, thousands of poppies and one simple purpose, to remember them. 🌺 #lestweforget
